Vikas Kumar as ACP Khan, a determined investigator aiming to smash the drug ring, makes a strong impression. Whether it's Hina (played by Sugandha Garg), who is pregnant with Sangram's child, Rajeshwari (played by Sohaila Kapur), who has her own dark secrets, Maya (played by Maya Sarao), who is Aarya's only confidante or Geentanjali Kulkarni as inspector Sushila Shekhar. In contrast to the prequel, the other women in the story play an essential role in shifting the equations and adding twists to the narrative. Although this sequence is well-executed, it is directly lifted from Marvel Studios' 'Hawkeye.' When Aarya is in the interrogation room with her hands tied up to the ceiling, she attacks one of the government officials with her legs. On the whole, Sen maintained a composed, vulnerable and tall presence throughout the show, which is peppered with some action-packed stunts. This crime drama, like its prequel, is heavily reliant on Sen’s abilities. Sushmita plays Aarya's different avatars-a grieving wife, scared mother, and a tough woman dealing with crime lords-with conviction.
The cinematography could have shown the exotic architecture of Rajasthan and the royal vibe of the city, which seems to be missing.Īarya's attitude towards everything can be summed up in two statements that she makes in separate scenes: one in the beginning “Kamjor hum nahi waqt hota hain, this time will pass” and then in the last one “Not a don, I am just a working mother.” She understands that in order to compete with evil, she must be strong and powerful.
The background music is noteworthy, especially the use of classic melodies like, ‘bade ache lagte hain.’ It's hummable and also reminds viewers of Tej’s fondness for old songs. However, for the most part, the show runs at a comfortable pace and fails to build up the kind of tension one expects from an edge-of-the-seat thriller. The characters are well-written and gradually grow on you as the story progresses. Overall, the screenplay is not extraordinary, but it’s well-executed. The writers (Sanyuktha Chawla Shaikh and Anu Singh Choudhary) have perfectly weaved in the ups and downs of Aarya’s life, as well as the shifting equations of love, loyalty, betrayal and family ties, while staying true to the basic premise.

‘Aarya’ is an official adaptation of the Dutch series 'Penoza' which depicts the story of a woman who goes from being a housewife and mother to becoming a don. The eldest son, Veer (Viren Vazirani), serves as a support system for his mother and siblings. It also chronicles the various ways in which Aarya’s children deal with their father’s untimely death-youngest son Aditya aka Adi (Pratyaksh Panwar), who is shaken by the incident of witnessing his father’s murder, attends therapy sessions, while daughter Arundhati aka Aaru (Virti Vaghani), who is unable to shake off the trauma, is now depressed and suicidal. This time, Aarya takes the reins and treads a tight line in order to keep her family safe.
Will she be able to survive this war and protect herself and her three children from everyone? However, once back in town, Aarya has to face her family whom she does not trust (due to their involvement in the death of her husband, Tej), Udayveer Shekhawat, who wants to avenge his son’s death and vows that Aarya will pay with her life as well as a Russian gang who wants their stolen consignment worth 300 crores of heroin back by any means necessary. Unfortunately, she will have to return to Rajasthan (her native) to testify against all three of them. Aarya gave ACP Yonis Khan the pendrive that promises to blow the lid off a black money trail and drug deals with the Russian Mafia, and in exchange, he saved her from the Russian gang and helped her to settle down in Australia with her children.

This season picks up right from where the previous one left off, with Aarya’s (Sushmita Sen) father Zorawar Rathore (Jayant Kripalani), brother Sangram Rathore (Ankur Bhatia), and Udayveer Shekhawat (Akash Khurana) imprisoned and awaiting trial for their involvement with drug mafia. And ‘Aarya season 2’, created by Ram Madhvani, who has also co-directed the series with Vinod Rawat and Kapil Sharma, is a riveting watch.
